Poetry Workshop in Columbia, SC with Danielle DeTiberus

About the Event
Join us for a morning seminar with Danielle DeTiberus, “Take the Leap: Duende, the Deep Image and Leaping Poetry.” In his famous lecture “The Theory and Play of Duende,” Federico Garcia Lorca said that the “Angel and Muse come from outside us: the angel brings light, the Muse form . . . While the duende has to be roused from the furthest habitations of the blood.” Duende was the name he gave for that magic in art that stirs the dark waters, that makes the hair on the back of our necks stand at attention. Later, Robert Bly brought this idea to the States in the form of Leaping Poetry, which seeks to bridge the gap between the conscious and the unconscious. In this class, we will learn about these theories, read poems that play with imaginative leaps to great effect, and discuss techniques for practically (and magically?) applying this form to your own work.
How to Reserve a Seat: Cost for the seminar is $10 for members and $15 for non-members paid at the door. Space is limited to 15 participants. To reserve a seat, please email your request to email@example.com with “PSSC Seminar” on the subject line. You will receive a confirmation
