Street names as first lines, a notebook I kept while house hunting in Spain

This group is about walking a place and writing what it gives you, so I hope a small confession fits here.

Last year my wife and I started looking at flats in Calpe, north of Alicante, and I noticed I was not writing down prices. I was writing down street names. Calle del Mar. Avenida de los Ejercitos. Partida Benicolada. I have a small green notebook and by spring there were forty of them, one per page, with a line or two under each about what the street sounded like at seven in the evening.

The flats came from https://alegria-realestate.com/ and my wife did the serious part, the numbers, the floor, the lift. I did the notebook. When we finally chose, in June, the deciding argument was not mine, but I will say that the street we chose had the best page.

Does anyone here write from place names first and let the poem follow? I am curious whether that is a real method or just a man avoiding spreadsheets.
